 Records of Southwark Diocesan Council for WelCare are with LMA. Holds London Diocesan Council for Welcare, Blue Lamp and Charing Cross Vigilance Associations from 1940, St George's Diocesan Training School, Berkeley Square, Victoria Emergency Home: St Anne's Shelter, Pimlico, Victoria Station and Outdoor rescue work, St John the Baptist Home, Tulse Hill and the House of Compassion, Pimlico. Some organisations at some dates only. Records of the London Guardians; the Poor Law District Schools and many children's homes until 1930. Also records of children in the care of the London and Middlesex County Councils from 1927-65 and their adoptions, Juvenile Courts from 1927 to the early 1970s, some records of Juvenile Courts in the Brentford and Spelthorne Sessions, Schools registers from 1870s - 1990. Records of some mother and baby homes but mainly administrative. Also Queen Charlotte's Hospital registers of births 1886-1985 and St Thomas's.

For all London boroughs, check for individuals with Barnardo's, London Metropolitan Archives, Social Services Departments, any local Diocesan CARIS (previously WelCare) Offices & national agencies. Please note that records held for any organisation may be partial and for some dates only. Inquiries may initially be by telephone but should be followed by a letter to the Senior Archivist, Access and Enquiries Section.
